La maison pliée
Kerillan est une maison en bois, à l’extrémité d’un hameau, donnant sur les champs du Finistère Sud. Sur la parcelle, elle pince la limite Ouest dégageant un espace intermédiaire étroit. Puis le vis-à-vis évacué, elle se plie, dilatant un espace et permettant son habitabilité. Entre la maison et la clôture, se forme un jardin linéaire, extension de l’espace habité. Banc, douche, chemin, terrasse, cet espace intermédiaire devient une pièce complémentaire de la maison, abritée par le large débord de toiture. A l’Est, en son creux, la façade pliée s’ouvre sur le paysage lointain. En limite de l’urbanisation, les champs se succèdent. Au Sud, un pignon familier regarde le jardin et son verger. Comme un visage abstrait, les fenêtres s’ouvrent sur le jardin. Au Nord, face à la rue, le pignon est fermé, regardant d’un oeil le village. Dans ce hameau où se côtoient des maisons bretonnes, néo-bretonnes et des maisons récentes de constructeur, Kerillan négocie par son implantation et son architecture, une position intermédiaire.
La toiture, asymétrique et très largement dimensionnée, est un objet de négociation entre la maison et les éléments. L’ouverture zénithale ouvre l’espace intérieur sur le ciel. Les pans Est de la toiture, récoltent les eaux de pluie, qui rejoignent la cuve aérienne. Les pans Ouest de la toiture, conduisent l’eau de pluie vers une noue végétalisée. La maison s’organise autour d’un noyau central vertical, distribuant l’ensemble des flux, techniques et de personnes.

The folded house
Kerillan is a wooden house, at the end of a hamlet, overlooking the fields of South Finistère. On the plot, it pinches the western limit clearing a narrow intermediate space. Then the facing evacuated, it folds, dilating a space and allowing its habitability. Between the house and the fence, a linear garden is formed, extension of the inhabited space. Bench, shower, path, terrace, this intermediate space becomes a complementary room of the house, sheltered by the large overhanging roof. To the east, in its hollow, the folded façade opens onto the distant landscape. At the edge of the urbanization, the fields follow one another. To the south, a familiar gable looks out onto the garden and its orchard. Like an abstract face, the windows open onto the garden. To the north, facing the street, the gable is closed, looking out over the village. In this hamlet where Breton, neo-Breton and recent builder's houses rub shoulders, Kerillan negotiates by its location and its architecture, an intermediate position.
The roof, asymmetrical and very large, is an object of negotiation between the house and the elements. The zenithal opening opens the interior space to the sky. The east side of the roof collects rainwater, which is collected in an overhead tank. The western slopes of the roof lead the rainwater to a vegetated ditch.The house is organized around a central vertical core, distributing all the flows, technical and people.
